The media could not be loaded.I’m trying to get a small resin crafting business going, so I’ve been more frugal on my purchases. For example, I use a brand called Bsrezn (available on Amazon) for my UV resin and find it works extremely well and is reasonably priced. I was at a crossroads for tools that I need to use, because my project shed is off grid, so no power is available (without spending tons of money). All the power tools that I’ve acquired are Dewalt and I’ve been extremely happy with them. However, the local hardware store, sells the dewalt cordless orbital sander for $170.00 and Amazon sells it for around $110 or more. I saw this one AVID power for less than half of the Dewalt and thought I’d give it a shot. The AVID comes with a 20V LiON battery (2 AH) and a good selection of sandpaper discs, as well as the charger for the battery. I almost forgot to mention it has a dust collector, which works pretty well. The sander worked right out of the box, but I charged the battery to full anyway, which took a while. The only electric power I have in my shed is from the BALDR 330W power station (also on Amazon) and the 120v powered out works well, but obviously not as well as an actual power outlet. Once this little sander was fully charged, I started using it to sand various types of wood (see the photos) oak/pine/birch to make LED light bases, that can be sold with the various resin products I’ll eventually have available (I’ll include a short video of an angel I made for a family member who’s fighting cancer, so you can see the light base in action).Since I’ll hopefully be selling things like this one day (maybe even on Amazon), I want to have the wood as nice as possible, hence the need for a cordless sander. This little guy has 6 speeds, and for me anyway, gets the job done and has made sanding the wood much easier and faster to sand!It is a little heavy and if the speed is too high, it can be a little difficult to handle, but that’s solved by turning the speed down.So far, this little guy has been a life saver, not to mention a big time saver. The durability is sort of a question, because I’ve only had it a few weeks. However, I have dropped it a few times or knocked off the workbench and it bounced and didn’t break. I’ll update the review later on to speak about long term durability and battery life etc.. Short term battery life seems decent, I last charged it a week and a half ago and have been using off and on and it still has 2 leds lit on the battery. For right now, I’m beyond impressed with the Avid Power Sander!!! I should probably get another battery, but that’ll have to wait a while.
